Participant Profiles

Wilson Huang: Wilson is an avid 11th grade student attending R.C. Palmer Secondary school. He is actively involved with student council, math club, and the science team. He's an acute problem solver equipped with a plethora of approaches to any problem. Despite this being his first GEC competition, he intends to go out with a bang!

Hans Sy: With maximum enthusiasm, Hans is looking forward to working together with his team. He is daring, adventurous, and willing to take risks. Hans is musically gifted and loves to jam and groove to new tunes. Watch out for his musical spasms!

Catherine Chou: As a challenge-seeker, Catherine is extremely excited to participate in this year's GEC. She loves performing and public speaking, creating presentations and reading, but also enjoys spending time outdoors biking and canoeing. With GEC, she hopes to apply her honed procrastination skills to this twenty-four hour competition.

Tiffane Mak: An analytical and strategic thinker, Tiffane is eager to participate in her first GEC experience. With creativity, she loves to solve puzzles and tackle new challenges. As a perfectionist and artist, she hopes to be able to use her skills to contribute to the team wherever she can. Next year, she is looking forward to attend business school in Canada.

Tom Guo: A first time participant of the GEC, Tom is excited for this opportunity to gain valuable experience in this field. He is a strong analytical thinker and has good leadership experience as the president of R.C Palmer Leos club. He is also very interested in the study of history, specifically analyzing important historical events, which could be a strong asset to the team.

Matthew Lee: As a second year business student at UBC, Matthew is the only member of the Vancouver team who is in university, and hopes that this will bring perspective and experience to the team. His design and photography skills as well as his experience in case competitions will be an asset moving forward. He has a wide range of interests including the worlds of style, food, technology and automotive.

Jacqueline Law: With no previous GEC experience, Jacqueline is excited to take part in her first challenge. Though not business-oriented, she has an intense keenness in Computer Science and Art. In her spare time, she enjoys painting and golfing to relax her senses. With her artistic and Photoshop abilities, she hopes to be able to contribute to the team.

Zhuowei Zhang: This is Zhuowei's first experience with the GEC. He is excited to participate and hopes that he will be able to contribute to the team. He is interested in computer science. Sadly, he is not very good at writing autobiographies.

Jackson Wei: Although not equipped with the experience of previous GEC challenges, Jackson is a motivated challenge seeker who is eager to join this competition to apply the best of his powerful business skills. Having a strong background in the business field, and having won numerous business competitions, he will be a great asset when it comes to the economic aspects of this challenge.

Mentors

David Leung: Having majored in history and minored in geography, David eventually became a high school social studies teacher to make a difference in people's lives, to teach students how to learn, and to share his passion for history. Over the years, David has found that he is a better mentor / counsellor than an actual teacher; he is the best person to motivate this group. As a perfectionist, he aims to promote the highest efficiency among the group members for this challenge. Oh, and he loves hockey.
