Particpant profiles

Hans Gabriel Braga: Hans is the awesome one in the group (according to him) . He is a thespian, student and ninja. He enjoys "Tilt to Live", Temple Run and Draw Something. Are you ready? Well, you should be because Hans is coming! Dun dun du duuuun!!!

Pamela Chua: Obsession with puzzles and irrational fear of syringe needles = Pammy. She wavers between complete sensibility and going with her gut feelings. Also known among her friends for dolphin- laughing and amateur narcolepsy.

Lara Dioquino: Lara is a studious stay-at-home teen who enjoys the simple things like outings with friends and family get -togethers. She has a black belt in Taekwondo but does not resort to violence. She believes in diversity and embraces different cultures. She wishes to pursue a course in history as she is fascinated with the origin of things. She considers it an honor to be part of the GEC team and is excited to represent her country.

Rafael La Viña: Don't be fooled by his thin frame. Rafa is an avid sports fan willing to spend hours talking about basketball and mixed-martial arts (with a white belt in jujitsu to boast) . He is also a certified TV- phile having killed his retinas after hundreds of hours in front of the tv. When not making write-ups about himself, Rafa enjoys listening to music, reading and marathon sessions of Final Fantasy.

Maxine Lorenzo: Maxine is very personable. She enjoys meeting and getting to know different types of people. At the same time, she enjoys staying home and watching movies. She is determined to reach her goals in life and she isn't someone you should underestimate.

Sophia Ann Marcelo: Sophia's goal is to live out her passion for violin and continue to work with people for a common goal. Her skills include basic violin, basic writing, basic poetry and basic patience.

Darvin Navera: Darvin is a 16 year old boy with a passion for art. He also enjoys the thrill and adventure of activities such as rock climbing, diving, rapelling and anything that triggers an adrenaline rush. He may look weak but he will try anything extreme. He has a noble goal of protecting animals from poaching and extinction

Elias Miguel Pascual: Miggy's biggest interest is music and is planning on entering the industry after college. He has been improving himself from his younger days and is actually doing fine with others. A kind talented guy, he hopes of bringing in a winning team.

Mentor

Myrna V. Tinio: A teacher by profession, an entrepreneur by heart- that's Ms. Myn. She enjoys creative explorations of materials and ideas and she also likes to convince others to do the same.

About

The Multiple Intelligence International School (MIIS) was founded in 1996 with the vision of providing learning environments that are truly child-centered. It aimed to open schools that welcome all learners, recognize and understand the individual differences among children, and work with the learner in bringing out his potentials. For more than a decade, The MIIS has since expanded since its first year of operation. Under it is the Department of Education-recognized and member of the Coalition of International Schools (CIS) - preschool (Child's Place), a grade school and most recently a high school, all regular progressive schools. In 2007, MIIS opened its high school department with a vision of continuing the formation of individuals who are able to use their intelligences to make a difference. MIIS prides itself in being a pioneering institution that emphasizes leadership and entrepreneurship as a thrust in its curriculum.

GEC History

MIIS joined The One Philippines Entrepreneurial Challenge (TOPEC), which is the Philippine Leg of the GEC, in January 2011. Even as first-time participant, they bagged the 1st Runner-up award with their "Multi-Mirror" – a product catering to people with special needs who has to be supported in terms of putting more organization in their lives. The same team joined the Asian leg of the competition (Asian Science Enterprise Challenge) in June of the same year and won 1st Runner-up as well. In this competition, they came up with a simple yet feasible product that will help Senior Citizens to be more mobile. Dubbed "Revita-Wear" the product is a pair of unisex compression leggings that are installed with electrodes which stimulate muscle activity throughout the lower regions of the body allowing easier and pain-free movement.

On their second year to compete, the newly-composed team ranked one on this year's The One Philippines Entrepreneurial Challenge as they have created a Secondary School system that capitalizes on collaborative learning.
